I designed a magazine layout for a local publisher whose mission is to promote a cleaner and more sustainable future. The feature article, titled "I Am the Problem," tackled the issue of fast fashion and its environmental impact, but with a unique, non-judgmental approach. Rather than shaming readers for their past clothing purchases, the article aimed to foster self-awareness and empower individuals to make more sustainable choices moving forward. It encouraged readers to reflect on their habits and take actionable steps toward building a more sustainable wardrobe. To visually support this message, I created a striking piece of artwork showing clothes hanging in the air, symbolizing the fleeting nature of fast fashion and its environmental cost. The garments suggest the impact of fast fashion on the planet, while maintaining a tone that was not accusatory but rather reflective and thought-provoking. The floating clothes and pollution imagery were designed to evoke an emotional response, encouraging readers to see the bigger picture without feeling blamed for their past choices. The layout itself features clean, modern typography and simple yet impactful design elements, balancing the powerful visuals with engaging content. The overall tone of the layout aligned with the magazine's ethos—empathetic, educational, and focused on positive change. It invited readers to be part of the solution, fostering a sense of empowerment rather than guilt.
